General travel advice for France

September marks the end of summer in the south of France. The large numbers of tourists from the previous months start to disappear. It’s a great time to visit with average temperatures ranging from 64f and 77f (18°C-25°C) .

Weather conditions are generally good in the south of France. Hopefully, as we have chosen the summer for this tour, we will have warm sunny days, however, you need to be prepared for wet weather as well.

Clothing advice: Bring along a selection of clothing for summer and overcast days including sweaters and jackets and comfortable walking clothes. We ask that you bring Hiking boots for use at all sites involving rough terrain; training shoes will be fine for a few locations, such as museums and towns. Sun hats, sunscreen and sunglasses are also recommended. Walking sticks are also recommended for those that they normally use them.

Euros: will be required throughout the trip. We will build in stops for cash machines and banks as guests require them.

Health and trip suitability: If you have any health concerns about joining the trip, please, contact us. We will also be on hand during  the trip – please, speak to Gary or Olga if you have any concerns. We will do our best to help!

We often receive inquiries about the suitability of our tours for mature people and the fitness levels required to attend. We have a wide spread of ages joining us, quite often from 20 to 80 years old. In almost all cases we will have our transport close to hand for anyone that would like to take a rest. Please, have in mind there will be a good amount of walking involved: generally, the walking will be on flat ground, however in some cases there will be up hill hikes.

Snacks: we normally recommend bringing some healthy snacks along to cover any long days/site visits. It’s always handy to have something to eat if you are hungry; you may also enjoy something for some extra energy.

You may also wish to bring any vitamins or dietary supplements that you normally use at home.
